This week I had the pleasure of interviewing our wonderful students Bassil and Samah. They welcomed me into their lovely home where we shared wine, delcious snacks and talked about our love of yoga.
Why Three Queens Yoga?
Samah: Three Queens is a safe space that I trust. I really enjoy the students, and the community feeling at the studio. When I am in class, I feel that I am able to create space and find the connection between my mind and body.
Bassil- Over the years, we have tried different types of yoga in Philadelphia and when traveling but no place has come close to the communtiy, spiritual connection and philosophy that Three Queens provides. I am able to check my obligations at the door and find a deep connection with the heart. The deep feeling of community is the best part of Three Queens. Yoga is very spirtual for me and I am able to turn off my mind and practice my meditation. I love how Three Queens brings the spirtiual part of the practice.
Tell me about yourselves?
Samah: I am getting my PHD in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Right now, I am teaching an undergraduate class at Penn in Political Science. The class is focused on freedom, equality and power. I am very passionate about my work and I love teaching and being with the students.
Bassil- I am an Endocrinologist at CHOP. I work with children with horomone issues, too short or too tall and children with diabetes. I have been with CHOP for the past six years.
Samah: No Death, No Fear- Thicht Na Han
Bassil- The Power of Now- Eckhart Tolle
Favorite Part of the Practice:
Bassil- I love that the pracice is very serendiptious. I love the skilled way the teachers teach at the studio. I have been working eka pada koudinyasana, handstand and gandu bherendasana.
Samah- I have been working arm balances especially side crow.
Cant Live Without:
Samah: Hope and Love.
Bassil: God’s grace.
Tell me about the future for you both:
Bassil and Samah: We will be welcoming a son in a few weeks! We are not going to worry about the future and we are going to surrender to whatever comes ahead.
